Catholic Stewardship Appeal You CAN be everywhere

Additional Ministries Funded by the Appeal

When you support the Catholic Stewardship Appeal, many lives are touched throughout the archdiocese.

All of the contributions to the Catholic Stewardship Appeal remain in the 10-county Milwaukee Archdiocese. Your gifts help lift spirits, relieve suffering, nurture faith and make Christ present in your very own parishes, neighborhoods and communities.

In many cases, the services funded by the Appeal have no other source of support. They are of such a scope that they can't be provided by parishes on their own. Only by working together in supporting the Appeal can we continue to enjoy these life-enhancing ministries.

The links below describe only some of the many services that are offered to Catholics and other residents of our 10-county archdiocese.

Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry serves two sites: UW-Milwaukee and UW-Whitewater. Campus ministers serve young people at a unique time in their lives and strive to make the Church meaningful to them as students, always keeping before them the reality that campus life is temporary. Upon leaving school, whether for vacations or to begin their careers, Church comes to life for them primarily through their connection to a parish.

Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities and caring go hand in hand. As a human service agency dedicated to meeting specific needs of the family of God, Catholic Charities helps the archdiocese respond lovingly to the Gospel imperative to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, and visit the sick within the following ministries:

  • Adult Care Ministries provide services to adults, the elderly and the disabled. Programs operate from these philosophical premises: to uphold the individual and to ensure that clients maintain their independence. Services include adult day care services, in-home support services for the elderly, case management, aging conference, information and referrals on elder issues, group homes for adults with disabilities, and in-home supportive living programs for persons with cognitive and physical disabilities.
  • Family & Children's Ministries provide services to families and children facing challenges. The programs focus on bringing stability to the lives of children and their families and increasing individual self-sufficiency. Services include pregnancy counseling, pre-natal care coordination, infant foster care, adoption placement, special needs adoption, step-parent and relative adoption, adoption search, parenting support services, supportive parenting program for disabled parents, companion families program, children cope with divorce program, individual, marriage and family counseling, Catholic school-based counseling, refugee resettlement services, legal services for immigrants, and outreach services.

Community and Apostolic Services

The Department for Community and Apostolic Services seeks to provide direction, vision, and support to the various health, social services, missionary, and social justice ministries of the Church in southeastern Wisconsin. The Department consists of the Office of Catholic Social Action, World Mission Ministries, and Sexual Abuse Prevention and Response Services, although only the Office of Catholic Social Action receives Appeal funds. The department seeks to broaden, deepen, and strengthen the Catholic community's gospel commitment to promote human life and dignity and to pursue a more just society. Important ministries in this task include social justice education and respect life initiatives. We support individual, parish, and archdiocese activities that promote a consistent ethic of life by conducting parish leadership training and formation in human concerns, social, and pro-life ministries. We collaborate with other archdiocesan departments, interfaith groups, and public, private and governmental sectors to promote the common good.

The Institute provides discernment for men seeking a vocational calling to the diaconate; a screening and selection process for men who through some transforming/formative experience encounter Christ and seek a deeper, permanent response to a perceived call to be of service to God's people through ministry in the Church, and opportunities for men and women to obtain specialized training in lay ministry beyond the certificate level (e.g. Christian Formation Leadership, Parish Office Administration, Liturgy, etc).

Parish Consultants

The Office of Parish Consultants works with parish leaders in many ways, such as assisting in problem solving, conflict resolution or needs assessment; providing leadership training, council and committee in-service, retreats and days of reflection; facilitating planning, collaboration, consolidation or transition efforts. An important role for each parish consultant is to cultivate relationships with the parish leaders of his/her districts in order to understand their parish needs and refer them to appropriate central office staff for specific services.
