Social Justice Ministry
Prayers for daily bread.
The 40 volunteers and staff at St. Hyacinth begin with prayer. Then they start in on the vital ministry of feeding the hungry on Milwaukee's South Side. They serve nearly 2,000 men, women and children each month—a 40 percent increase in need over last year.
In addition to a balanced selection of food, St. Hyacinth gives out fresh produce from farmers' markets in season, and also distributes personal hygiene items, clothing and recipe booklets. The Social Justice Ministry of the archdiocesan helps coordinate and secure resources for St. Hyacinth and other area parish food pantries to help them carry out their important life-changing work. |
